See it work first

First run

1. Mac: open the disk image and drag DrawDog to Applications.

   Then open it from Applications. It appears in your menu bar, not the Dock.

   Early build: macOS will say it can’t verify DrawDog is free of malware, because this build isn’t yet notarized with Apple. To open it once: try to open it, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security, and click Open Anyway on the line about DrawDog. After that it opens normally. On macOS 12, 13 and 14 there’s a shortcut: right-click the app, choose Open, then Open again. Apple removed that shortcut in macOS 15, so use the System Settings route if right-clicking does nothing.
2. Windows: unzip and run DrawDog.exe.

   Keep the file anywhere you like and double-click it. It appears in the system tray next to the clock. It needs the WebView2 runtime, which nearly every Windows 10 and 11 machine already has; if not, Windows will tell you and Microsoft’s free installer takes a minute.

   Early build: before you extract the zip, right-click it, choose Properties, tick Unblock, and click OK. That saves you a warning on every file inside. SmartScreen may still say “Windows protected your PC”, because this build isn’t code-signed yet. Click More info, then Run anyway.
3. Read what it can see.

   Before anything is recorded, the app shows you the app it can currently see in front, and the exact record it would write for a file. Nothing is recorded until you say so.

4. Pick a folder and start.

   Choose the folder you work in. Save as you normally would. When you stop, the app shows the grade and, once you’ve signed in, a Certify button that gives you the link.
